EVERYONE CAN WRITE A SONG
Music Education Masterclass Presented by

Workshop Description: This workshop is recommended for the student who is interested in learning about songwriting and expressing themselves through song. Students will learn ways to write & record their musical ideas. Students will have the opportunity to present the music they’ve written at the session if they wish to do so. This workshop is open to all students, whether you play an instrument or not. Even if you’ve never written a song before, this will be the perfect class for you. For this session, be sure to bring: A) A recording device (can be your cell phone) and B) A musical instrument (if you play an instrument and want to play/sing your musical ideas).

LATIN POP: A CULTURAL FUSION

Workshop Description: Participants will learn about the history of Latin pop music and the influential artists who contributed to this crossover genre. The workshop will explore how artists’ cultural backgrounds and life experiences shape their sound and make their styles distinct. This workshop includes live, collaborative performances of various sub-genres of Latin pop to highlight the idea of crossover, fusion, and the amalgamation of different genres to create a unique sound. This workshop can be presented to all age ranges and for those of all musical abilities.

URBAN LATIN: HOW DID IT COME ABOUT?
Presented by urban Latin artist JChris

Workshop Description: What started off as a music that was taboo to listen to has become a chart-topping genre across the world. Participants will learn about the history of urban Latin music (reggaeton, dancehall, dembow, etc.) and the identifying features that make it distinct from other genres of music. We will be exploring the fundamental and infectious elements (music & lyrics) that make up the music of artists like Bad Bunny and Karol G. Audience participation will be involved in this presentation.
